Honor Magic 9 Series Compared: Which Model Has the Biggest Upgrade?

Honor has expanded its flagship lineup with the new Magic 9 series, introducing the Honor Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro Max and Magic 9 Super Edition. All three models bring high-end displays, 200MP-class cameras and large batteries, but Honor has given each phone a different focus.

Honor Magic 9

The standard Magic 9 is the more compact option in the lineup. It features a 6.37-inch 120Hz OLED display with a resolution of 2664 × 1236 pixels.

Under the hood, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Photography is another major highlight. The Magic 9 features a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. It also gets a 55MP front camera.

The phone packs an 8,000mAh battery, with support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. It therefore offers a balance between flagship hardware and a relatively compact design.

Honor Magic 9 Pro Max

The Magic 9 Pro Max sits at the top of the series and is aimed particularly at users interested in photography, video recording and maximum performance.

It features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 10,000 nits peak brightness. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.

Its camera system is one of the biggest differences. The Pro Max has a 200MP main camera, 200MP telephoto camera and 50MP ultrawide camera. Honor’s collaboration with cinema-camera company ARRI also brings ARRI image science and cinematic video features to the phone.

The device supports features such as ARRI Cinema Mode, LogC3 and 10-bit video recording, while video recording can reach 4K at 60fps.

The Pro Max also comes with an 8,800mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Storage options reach up to 1TB with 16GB of RAM.

Honor Magic 9 Super Edition

The Super Edition takes a different approach. Instead of matching the Pro Max’s camera hardware, Honor has focused heavily on battery life.

It features a 6.81-inch 120Hz OLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Its biggest headline feature is an enormous 11,000mAh battery, supported by 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The camera setup includes a 200MP main camera, 50MP telephoto camera and 12MP ultrawide camera, along with a 50MP front camera. Unlike the Pro Max, the Super Edition does not include the same ARRI-focused imaging system.

The Super Edition is also slightly thinner and lighter than the Pro Max according to published specifications, despite carrying the much larger battery.

Which Magic 9 Has the Biggest Advantage?

The three phones are designed around different priorities. The Magic 9 offers a smaller display while retaining flagship-level cameras and performance. The Magic 9 Pro Max combines the most advanced processor in the lineup with a high-end ARRI camera system and faster charging. The Super Edition, meanwhile, stands out with its massive 11,000mAh battery.

For photography and filmmaking, the Pro Max’s ARRI features are a major part of its identity. For users who prioritize battery capacity, the Super Edition takes a very different approach. Meanwhile, the standard Magic 9 provides a more compact alternative within the same family.

Honor launched the Magic 9 series in China on September 28, 2026, with international availability expected to be announced separately.

Overall, the Magic 9 lineup shows Honor moving beyond a simple standard-versus-Pro formula: the Magic 9 focuses on balance, the Pro Max on imaging and performance, and the Super Edition on extreme battery capacity.
