Bigg Boss Season 20 has only just begun, but the latest episode has already sparked a strong debate among viewers. While the show was expected to deliver nonstop drama, entertainment and unexpected twists, a section of the audience feels that the opening episodes have been slow, repetitive and less engaging than expected.
Recent reviews have highlighted criticism of the show’s pacing, while social-media reactions have also questioned the contestant lineup.
One of the biggest complaints is the pace of the episode. Viewers who tuned in expecting major confrontations and exciting tasks felt that too much screen time was spent on introductions, routine conversations and relatively small arguments.
A recent review described the first episode as unusually dull and criticized the amount of slow-moving content.
For a show like Bigg Boss, viewers generally expect something dramatic to happen almost immediately. When an episode takes too long to build momentum, audiences can quickly lose interest.
Another major issue is the contestant selection. The season has introduced several new faces, but some viewers have admitted that they are still unfamiliar with a number of the contestants.
Social-media reactions following the premiere showed a divided audience, with some fans enjoying the fresh lineup while others were already asking for more recognizable personalities and even wildcard entries.
This may explain why some viewers feel that the current season does not yet have a strong central character or obvious fan favourite.
Interestingly, the problem isn’t that there is no drama. There have already been arguments.
Mahhi Vij’s behaviour, disagreements involving Qazi Tauqeer and Yung DSA, and tensions surrounding house responsibilities have created early conflicts.
However, some viewers appear to feel that these conflicts are developing too quickly and don’t yet feel natural. When arguments happen before audiences have become emotionally invested in the contestants, the drama can come across as forced rather than entertaining.
Another criticism is that ordinary house disagreements are receiving a lot of attention.
Arguments over luggage, tea, household responsibilities and personal comments have already become major talking points.
For some viewers, these moments are entertaining. But others want stronger tasks, strategy, relationships and genuine rivalries rather than repeated arguments over everyday issues.
Expectations were particularly high because this is the show’s 20th season.
Instead of feeling like a major milestone season, some viewers currently feel that the opening episodes resemble a normal Bigg Boss launch. The criticism has even extended beyond individual episodes, with former contestant Asim Riaz calling the season a “flop season” in a post that he later deleted.
Of course, one contestant’s opinion does not determine the show’s success, and the season is still extremely young.
It would be too early to declare the season unsuccessful.
The house is already producing conflicts, alliances and competition. There are also early developments involving captaincy and nominations, which could significantly increase the intensity of upcoming episodes.
Bigg Boss seasons often take time to find their rhythm. Contestants who appear quiet during the first few episodes can suddenly become major players once nominations, captaincy tasks and eliminations begin.
The biggest reason some viewers are not liking the recent Bigg Boss 20 episodes appears to be a combination of slow pacing, divided opinions about the contestants and drama that doesn’t yet feel compelling enough.
However, the season has only just started. The real test will come when contestants begin forming alliances, facing nominations and fighting for power.
For now, the verdict from viewers seems to be: Bigg Boss 20 has potential, but it needs more excitement and stronger storytelling to win back the audience.
