Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp decline on Monday, September 28, with the price of 24-karat gold falling by Rs12,800 per tola. According to rates issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), gold settled at Rs438,136 per tola, down from Rs450,936. (Business Recorder)
The decline was also reflected in the 10-gram rate. The price of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs10,973 to Rs375,631. The latest fall came after gold had already declined by Rs2,100 per tola on Saturday. (Business Recorder)
The major decline in Pakistan followed a sharp drop in international gold prices. Global gold fell by $128 per ounce to $4,156, with international bullion prices coming under pressure amid changing expectations about US interest rates and higher Treasury yields. Reuters reported that gold fell to its lowest level since early August. (Reuters)
Higher yields can reduce the appeal of gold because the precious metal does not generate interest income. Market participants are also watching expectations for further US Federal Reserve rate decisions, which can influence gold prices and the dollar.
Silver also moved lower in Pakistan. The price of silver decreased by Rs325 per tola to Rs6,578, while its 10-gram price fell to Rs5,639. (Daily Times)
The latest movement highlights how closely Pakistan’s precious-metal market responds to changes in international bullion prices. Local rates can continue to fluctuate as global gold prices, currency movements and broader economic conditions change.
