PTI Long March Update: Where Has the Caravan Reached Now?

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march toward Islamabad continues to move through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the convoy led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reaching Mattani on the outskirts of Peshawar on Tuesday night, October 6. The march was launched from Lakki Marwat on October 4 following the breakdown of talks between PTI and the federal government.

Latest Location: Mattani, Peshawar

According to the latest available reports, the PTI caravan spent Tuesday night in Mattani, after travelling from Kohat through Darra Adamkhel. The convoy is continuing its journey toward the Punjab border as it seeks to eventually reach Islamabad.

The march had earlier passed through Karak and Kohat before reaching Darra Adamkhel and then Mattani. PTI officials have indicated that the protesters will continue their journey in stages rather than travelling directly to Islamabad.

What Comes Next?

The planned route indicates that the caravan will move from the Peshawar area toward Khyber and then the Charsadda region. The protesters are expected to spend another night near Charsadda Interchange before moving toward Khairabad, which borders Punjab.

PTI’s stated target is to reach Khairabad by October 8. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that the next phase of the protest will be announced there, meaning the exact route and strategy for the final leg toward Islamabad have not yet been fully disclosed.

Government Warns Against Moving Beyond Attock

The march is taking place amid heightened political tension between PTI and the federal government. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said the march will not be allowed to proceed beyond Attock, while the federal government has also warned against attempts to enter Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called on PTI to end the protest and return to negotiations, saying the government remains willing to discuss political issues through dialogue. PTI leadership, however, maintains that previous talks failed to produce meaningful progress.

Why the March Is Taking Place

PTI launched the long march after negotiations with the federal government failed. The party is demanding the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, while also raising political and security-related issues concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The government and PTI have presented different accounts of why the negotiations broke down, particularly over counterterrorism policy and political demands. Both sides have continued to call for their respective positions while the convoy moves toward the Punjab border.

PTI March: Latest Route So Far

The march has progressed through several locations since it began:

Lakki Marwat → Karak → Kohat → Darra Adamkhel → Mattani/Peshawar outskirts → Khyber/Charsadda → Khairabad

The next major milestone is Khairabad, where PTI leadership is expected to announce the strategy for the next stage of the protest.

For now, the latest confirmed location is Mattani, near Peshawar, and the caravan has not yet reached Islamabad or crossed into Punjab. The situation remains fluid, with further developments expected as the march approaches Khairabad and Attock.
